This is one of the trees on Augusta up close
My mom checking to make sure the water wasn't raising
My dad with a chainsaw cutting down the walnut tree
The back yard after Ike went through
The barn made it through!!! We were very worried about it.
A couple of trees down on my parents property
These pictures were just a few of what IKE left us. However, we are very blessed that is all he left us. Galveston got hit 4 times as hard as Houston. If you get a chance to see some of the damage Ike left on Galveston check it out (galvnews.com).
Ike came through late Friday night/early Saturday morning (Sept. 12th/12th) this past weekend. Tim and I stayed at my parents house in Sugar Land...we lost electricity at 2 am on Saturday morning. As of today (18th) they still don't have power.
Our apartment weathered through the storm fine. We had a lot of debris but nothing that couldn't be cleaned up. We must have lost power at our apartment late Friday night/Early Saturday morning but it was restored Sunday afternoon. Not too bad...we lost some food but nothing we couldn't replace....well not yet the stores don't have that much.
I would say the worst part of this storm (other than Galveston's disaster) is the power outage. We feel really bad for having power/cable/Internet....not that I would change it but we do not understand how we got so blessed to have it all back so soon.
HURRICATION....I have not had to work all week. Well....work as a teacher. I have worked in the yard/land plenty.
A dear friend of ours is staying with us this week....crazy thing is his place is right down the street from ours. His place still has no power. My brother-n-law and his girlfriend are over tonight doing laundry because they do not have power yet. I can't imagine...and they have had to work all week. I can't imagine! : (
Well IKE....I didn't think you would be that bad. You proved me WRONG!
Houston will return! No worries!
